Thirsk Young Farmers Club raised money for their chosen charities at
their foam party "The Big Bath" held at Thirsk Rural Business Centre, in
September, by kind permission of Chairman and Thirsk Rotarian Harry
Woodhead.
The event was a huge success and all 500 tickets were sold well before
the day.
This year the money that the club raised was split between two charities
one of which was
"The Laura Crane Trust". It is the only UK charity
funding research specifically into the types of cancer affecting
teenagers and young adults. It also funds measures to improve the
quality of life for young cancer patients, both during and in the
aftermath of their illness.
A cheque for £250 was presented to Tony Jordan of Thirsk Rotary Club
to be forwarded via RYLA Secretary & 2007 Course Director Tim Dale to
the Trust.
Next years event, which has already been booked for the same time next
year, will be even bigger so more people can enjoy the fun and hopefully
continue to support charities chosen by young people for young people.
Young Farmers have asked that Tony return to show them the DVD of the
Trust early in 2008
