Laura Crane attended a school where many of our Awardees also attend. Laura died just two weeks after her 17th birthday after a 14 month battle against four types of cancer. All her dreams and ambitions died with her. At that time there was little research undertaken into the effects and treatment of cancer in the 15 to 25 years age group. Laura's mum, Jacquie, set up the Trust, a registered charity, commissioning work towards funding research into cancers affecting this age group. 10 years on, they are still the only Trust  funding such dedicated research.

Unlike Laura's, your dreams and ambitions live on and are within your grasp. Now put what you have learnt in Leadership, Teamwork and Organisation on RYLA to good effect and 'pay back' the investment that we have made in you. However you choose to do it, whether by sponsored events, quizzes, non-uniform days or absolutely anything, you are challenged to 'make a difference' by supporting the Laura Crane Trust and that way the dreams and ambitions of other's less fortunate than yourselves may also come true!
