Hi Everyone
Just a 'brief' update to keep you all in the loop
on the arrangements for this summer's RYLA Courses.
The admin etc is all getting nicely sorted, the
venue, the catering, the professional instructors, the Rotarian mentors etc,
etc.
Most Clubs I know are now into the
advertising/interview/selection process. If you havn't made a start then now
would definately be a good time, remembering the deadline to get the completed
registration forms back to me of the 30th April please so I can then do my bit.
Once I get your completed awardees registration
forms from you, I will hold onto them but let you know I have received them.
I'll also email your chosen awardee to let them know I'll be allocating the
places on the two courses and sending out the Awardee Handooks and joining
instructions to you after the 30th April deadline.
Please try not to choose a specific one of the
two courses for them as it restricts my ability to get the right balance on the
two courses. If they have a definate need for a specific course, holiday booked
etc, then by all means show that but otherwise please try to leave it to me to
allocate.
Please be mindful too of the age criteria, ie
they must be 16 but not yet 18 years of age on the first day of the course.
There are various reasons for this but not least is the insurance and the risk
assessments that have to be complied with.
If you are stuck how to carry out the interview
stage, which is an essential part of the recruitment, then the RYLA Committee
have prepared a sample 'interview guide'. By all means get back to me and I'll
make sure you get an electronic copy.
Please keep an eye of the
www.ryla.org
website for developments as we go along and encourage your candidates and
awardees to do likewise and by all means give me any feedback on how we could
improve it for both yourselves and your awardees.
